Frequently asked questions
Getting started
What exactly does Crestpoints Consult do?
We’re an educational consulting firm. We help students find the right school and country for their goals, guide them through the application and visa process, and support them in settling into life abroad. Think of us as a knowledgeable friend who has been through the system and can walk you through it step by step.
Is a consultation free?
Yes. Your first consultation with us is completely free. We’ll have an honest conversation about your background, goals, and options — and there’s no pressure to proceed. If we’re the right fit, we’ll agree on a plan together.
Who do you work with? Do I need to be a recent graduate?
We work with secondary school leavers, undergraduates looking to study abroad, and young professionals pursuing postgraduate or professional development programmes. You don’t need to have just finished school — if you’re ready to explore international education, we can help.
Destinations and universities
Which countries do you cover?
We currently specialise in four destinations: the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Portugal. Each offers distinct advantages depending on your field of study, budget, and long-term plans.
Can you help me choose the right country and university?
Absolutely — this is one of the most important parts of what we do. We’ll help you weigh up factors like tuition fees, living costs, course availability, language requirements, visa pathways, and post-study work rights before making a recommendation.
Do you have partnerships with specific universities?
We work with a range of institutions across our four destinations. Our goal is always to match you with the school that’s right for your profile and goals — not simply the schools we have agreements with. We’ll be transparent with you about any partnerships that may be relevant.
Applications and requirements
What qualifications do I need to apply?
Requirements vary by country, university, and programme. Generally, you will need academic transcripts, proof of English language proficiency (such as IELTS or TOEFL for non-English-speaking countries), a personal statement, and references. During your consultation we will review your specific situation and let you know exactly what you’ll need.
What if my grades aren't strong enough?
There may still be pathways available to you — foundation programmes, pathway colleges, or alternative institutions with different entry requirements. We’ll give you an honest assessment of your options rather than simply telling you what you want to hear.
How long does the application process take?
This depends on the destination and your start date. As a rough guide, allow at least 3 to 6 months from your first consultation to receiving an offer and beginning your visa application. Some destinations and intakes require more lead time. We’ll give you a personalised timeline once we understand your situation.
Visas and immigration
Do you help with student visas?
Yes. We provide guidance on the visa process for each destination — what documents you need, how to prepare your application, and what to expect during processing. We are consultants, not licensed immigration lawyers, so for complex immigration situations we may recommend you also seek legal advice.
What are my chances of getting a visa?
Visa outcomes depend on many factors, including the strength of your application, your financial documentation, your intended programme, and your personal circumstances. We will help you put together the strongest possible application, but we cannot guarantee any visa outcome.
Costs and fees
How much does it cost to use Crestpoints?
Our fees depend on the level of support you need and your destination. We’ll outline everything clearly before you commit to anything. There are no hidden charges.
Are there scholarships available for international students?
Yes — scholarships exist for international students in all four of our destination countries, ranging from government-funded awards to institution-specific bursaries. We can help you identify opportunities you may be eligible for and advise on how to apply.
How much will it cost to study and live abroad?
Costs vary significantly by country and city. During your consultation we’ll give you a realistic picture of tuition fees, accommodation, living expenses, and any other costs you should budget for based on your specific destination and programme.
